Setting up the Robot and Station
The station itself doesn’t need much preparation.
Being roughly the size of a tall trash bin, the station takes up quite a bit of space.
The robot comes with many accessories pre-installed, but not all of them.
Prior to my first cleaning, I attached the corner brush.
It doesn’t matter either way because you’ll create the map using the vacuum module.
Before its first use, I fully charged the robot.
Once paired, the app took me through a few basic tweaks, including quiet hours and continuous cleaning.
Then I was finally ready to start mapping; or so I thought.
Mapping the Place
To prepare for the first cleaning and mapping, I followed Yeedi’s recommendations.
That’s also when I encountered the “robot is offline” warning for the first time.
Fortunately, this resolved quickly and only reoccurred once.
Your cleaning schedule can be for a specific area within your map.
The robot stops at the self-cleaning station to refill water and clean its mopping pads.
The station even dries the pads.
Occasionally, however, you’ll have to machine wash them.
The dust box holds a multipurpose cleaning tool, which consists of a small blade and brush.
The mopping pads spin 180 times per minute, outperforming any human that’s ever cleaned this place.
Cleaning runs took a reasonable time.
When the cleaning job was done, it even dried the pads, which would take a few hours.
On the map, I could also see where exactly it was stuck.
Generally, the Yeedi did a great job navigating around obstacles, and it rarely knocked into things.
Unlike other robot vacuums, like theRoborock Q5+, the Yeedi has no camera sticking out at the top.
At our place, it could clean under all our furniture, including low chests and the couch.
Switching out the vacuum and mopping modules and general maintenance are straight forward.
Maintenance, however, took more effort than I expected.
The self-cleaning station required attention after every other cleaning.
With the water flow level to medium, it needed frequent refills.
Over time, the station’s docking area collected dirty water, which looked a bit like an accident.
No water was spilled outside the station, though.
Occasionally, the robot couldn’t find its charging dock and sent a message to the app.
Placing it in front of the station and pressing the home button put it back on track.
Should You Buy the Yeedi Mop and Vacuum Robot?
It’s far more affordable than comparable models, yet provides equally good cleanings.
As with other robot cleaners, however, you will need the space.
You’ll appreciate the intuitive app that offers many customization options.
While maintenance will be a regular occurrence, it’s straightforward.
Obviously, robot vacuums can’t master stairs.
So if you were thinking of getting this model for your multilevel house, you might want to reconsider.
