Despite its limited configurations, the MSI Aegis RS 12 offers several options at different price points.
The i7-12700KF and RTX 3070 models offer the best price to performance.
The Aegis RS 12 is one of three gaming desktops available from MSI.
When the Aegis RS 12 goes on sale, there is nothing else with similar hardware that can compete.
Is the MSI Aegis RS 12 Worth It?
TheAlienware Aurora R13meanwhilewith identical specsretails for about $550 more at $2,399.99.
Doing so will cost about $2060 before taxes, shipping, as well as any discounts.
The gaming mouse and keyboard which are included with select configurations are surprisingly nice.
Again, this is another area you could save on.
Having all your parts from one brand doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re more optimized to work together.
This is how they manage to keep their prices so competitive.
But if you’re more flexible, MSI has several Aegis models to choose from.
Design and Case
For its case, the Aegis RS 12 uses the MSI MPG Gungnir 110R.
This case has a unique split-angled front design which features the MSI logo in its center.
There is also a cutout near the bottom, letting you see the power supply.
The case’s four-angled feat raises the computer about an inch from the desktop and helps with airflow.
On the front, you’ll find two USB 3.0 and one USB-C (not Thunderbolt 4).
Although it’s not the fastest, the front USB-C connection is useful to have.
This is also where you’ll connect the included antennas for Wi-Fi connectivity.
You have plenty of RGB lighting here thanks to its six-case fans and 240mm CoreLiquid CPU cooler.
Three fans are located at the front, two on the top, and one in the rear.
There are thumb screws to access both sides of the case.
MSI appears to have done a decent job with its cable management.
At 4K with max graphics, you achieve 80+ FPS in Batman Arkham Knight and 140-160FPS in Overwatch 2.
