The MobilePixels Geminos dual stacked monitor display is anything but mobile, and quite bizarre.
Billed as a productivity tool, it includes two stacked 24 HD screens that neatly unfold.
So what does this offer that other solutions don’t?
The words “top” and “bottom” next to each button set would have hardly ruined anything.
Once the top monitor is fully vertical, pull upwards at the hinges, from the bottom monitor.
You’ll find a slight bit of resistance, then it’ll click.
It’s unclear where you should grab if you want to rearrange your desk or carry it elsewhere.
At this price point, you might expect a faster refresh.
Its an IPS matte display, and while it looks good, it’s certainly nothing remarkable.
These are screens strictly for work and productivity, not for creative video work or gaming.
Ergonomics and Adjustment
Design niggles aside, how is it in use?
Well, it’s much as youd expect one monitor stacked on top of the other to be.
Ergonomically, I’m conflicted.
This was then my primary display.
However, the standard Geminos model which I was sent doesn’t feature this.
Productivity and Gaming Experience
Theres no denying that having stacked screens can be a productivity boost.
The Mobile Pixels Geminos is an ultimate productivity boost.
There is absolutely no debating that.
Mostly Excellent, But You Could Do It Cheaper
We need to talk about pricing.
I found aheavy-duty stacked monitor mount on Amazonfor $50.
A decent24 GSYNC-compatible high-refresh gaming monitorcosts no more than $200.
Lets allow $100 for a USB hub and webcam.
The total cost is $650, with superior, gaming-level displays.
Perhaps to protect the screens?
Secondly, its the built-in combined, all-in-one hub function.
Overall, its a difficult sell.
For what it is, taken in isolation, it’s an excellent product.
You could get better monitors and mount them very similarly for a lot less money.
Fundamentally, the Geminos doesnt seem to offer as much value as the price would suggest.
