Thankfully, NearDrop, a third-party tool, brings the file-sharing protocol to Mac.

Before setting up NearDrop, verify to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled on your Mac.

The app won’t work without access to these two connectivity protocols.

The app will not start automatically every time you boot your Mac.

For that, you must add it to the list of login items.

There are no prefs that you’re able to configure for NearDrop.

Admittedly, NearDrop has certain limitations that restrict its usefulness.

Depending on the file size, the transfer duration can vary from a few seconds to a few minutes.

You must have a Mac with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support to use the app.

Given certain platform limitations, NearDrop does not support sending files from Mac to Android.
