Working in Excel spreadsheetsis all about saving time.
You don’t want to have any slowdowns in your workflow that decrease your productivity.
There’s a small but useful change you’ve got the option to make to how theEnterbutton functions.
Out of the box, pressing Enter will move the highlighted box down by one cell.
Start by clickingFilein the top-left corner of Excel.
In this menu, click theOptionstab on the left sidebar.

You’ll see Excel’s preferences – choose theAdvancedtab on the left.
At the top, you’ll see theEditing optionsheader.
The first option isAfter pressing Enter, move selection, with a dialogue box.
By default this is set asDown, but you’ve got the option to change it toRight.
Though it’s a bit unnatural, you’re able to also set this toUporLeftif you prefer.
In fact, if you uncheck theAfter pressing Enterbox, you might completely disableEnter’s functionality.
With this unchecked, pressingEnterdoes nothing.
That’s all there is to it.
ClickOKafter you’ve made your selection, and Excel will immediately apply the changes.
