This is because the Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions arent written in the same programming language.
Java is less efficient in comparison, hence the need for a PC to run it smoothly.

Once youve made an account on Aternos, click onCreateto create a server and name it.
see to it to chooseJava Editionon the blue bar above.
Alternatively, you canhost your Minecraft server on a Raspberry Pi.
Install GeyserMC
Now that youve made your server, dont turn it on yet.
First, head toSoftware, then choosePaper/Bukkiton the software selection screen.
punch theInstallbutton to add PaperMC to your server.
Next, head toPlugins.
Finally, press the small download icon to the very right of the most recent or compatible version.
For your locally run server, head toPaperMC.ioand download GeyserMC from there.
Join the Minecraft Java Server on Bedrock Edition
On the main server screen, clickStartto turn on the server.
you might find the server connection details by clicking onConnectjust below the server name.
Copy the IP and port for the next step.
On Minecraft Bedrock Edition, hit theServerstab, scroll all the way down, and click theAdd Serverbutton.
Add the server IP and port into the appropriate text boxes and name the server.
Doing either will add the server to your list of servers in Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
One of the biggest issues is mod compatibility.
Mods arent something that can be easily translated to different versions of Minecraft.
Youll be limited by simpler mods, like ones that a vanilla Java Edition player can still join.
While it has limitations, this can rarely get in the way of having fun.
Now you dont have to be worried that you and your friend have different versions of Minecraft.
We hope this guide has helped you enjoy Minecraft with your friends no matter what theyre playing on.
