Unboxing and Setup
The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni arrives in a massive box.
Next, remove the top lid from the vacuum and flip the power switch to the on position.
On your smartphone, create or get in to your account in the Ecovacs Home app.
You will also be introduced to the X1 Omni’s built-in voice assistant, Yiko.
Mapping
The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni boasts impressive home-mapping abilities.
The amount of customization within the app is truly remarkable.
you might even label areas, though it’s limited to 17 presets.
I imagine custom names are not available to ensure that the Yiko assistant can easily understand voice commands.
On its own, the Omni X1 does extremely well at automatically recognizing and labeling rooms accurately.
Making changes to the map is extremely simple.
As Office was not an available label, I instead went with Study.
Video Manager
Video manager is one of the more exciting features of the Omni X1.
The camera may not be the highest quality, but for a vacuum, it’s pretty impressive.
Controls are also smooth and intuitive, which makes it easy to traverse around your home.
The vacuum can hear you best when you’re within 10 feet of it.
you’re able to also quickly tell it to pause or return to its dock.
Yiko can also intelligently tell where you are located for context commands.
Meanwhile, its AIVI and TrueDetect sensors help it avoid obstacles and recognize objects on the floor.
The X1 uses AI processing to identify objects up to 20 times faster than its predecessor.
The two mounting slots for the mopping pads turn on the robot to mop floors as well.
The robot can be controlled manually, via the app, or voice controls.
However, like other robot vacuums, it still struggles with certain obstacles.
This feature works well for heavier cords but may not be effective for lighter or thinner cords.
One area where the Deebot X1 Omni struggled was on thresholds.
In my apartment, the vacuum had difficulty crossing the half-inch threshold between my kitchen and bathroom.
Cleaning Performance
The Deebot X1 Omni provides excellent cleaning performance on both hard floors and carpets.
They will also prevent the vacuum from cleaning carpets.

Vacuuming
The X1 Omni’s cleaning performance on hard floors is impressive.
It could easily pick up small debris like dust, crumbs, and hair.
Its suction power, even when boosted, left pieces behind.
Nearly everything was vacuumed except a few small pieces.
Mopping
The mopping feature does a good job of removing surface-level dirt and grime.
For lighter spills, stains, and shoe marks, the Omni X1 was able to mop them up.
While not a big inconvenience, it does prevent me from running auto-mopping cycles on a schedule.
This is one area where other premium vacuums are beginning to distinguish themselves from the competition.
